We have collaborated with another Sligo business A&S Aromas to bring you this fabulous NEW scent exclusive to WB’s of how we envisage William Butler Yeats.
William Butler Yeats was an Irish Poet, dramatist, prose writer and one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature. A pillar of the Irish Literary establishment, he helped to found the Abbey Theatre and in his later years served two terms as a Senator of the Irish Free State.
Williams mum Susan Mary Pollexfen was from Sligo and this is where he would spend childhood holidays in County Sligo becoming fascinated by Irish Legends and the Occult and considered Sligo his spiritual home.
‘He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven’ is one of W. B. Yeats‘s (1865-1939) most popular poems & written for Maud Gonne his long time love and chief muse. It’s also one of his shortest – just eight lines in all.
Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
